Young artists recognized

The Diocesan Office of the Missionary Childhood Association recently announced the winners for this year’s annual Christmas Artwork Contest. The talented artists recognized were Lilly Nguyen and Hannah Ceasar of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic School in Birmingham, Lily Mae Braud of Prince of Peace Catholic School in Hoover, and Luna Ortiz of Saint Francis Xavier Catholic School in Birmingham. The students met with Bishop Steven J. Raica, Diocesan Director for the Pontifical Mission Societies Father Ray Remke, Mission Coordinator Christina Wright, and Superintendent of Catholic Schools Margaret Dubose. This contest is both local and national. On the national level, Hannah Ceasar was chosen as a national winner by the National Office of the Missionary Childhood Association, and she will be traveling to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., where she will join other national winners and be presented with an award.
