Winter guard team sees success

The John Carroll Catholic High School winter guard team has earned two first place victories in just two competitions so far this season. They placed first at competitions hosted by Mortimer Jordan High School on Saturday, Jan. 28, and Thompson High School on Saturday, Feb. 11. Winter guard is an indoor sport of the color guard discipline in which teams perform routines using supporting equipment to recorded background music. It is a performance-based activity which incorporates choreographed staging, dance, and manipulation of equipment such as flags, prop rifles, and sabers. Winter guard is a performance art derived from military ceremonies. John Carroll Catholic’s winter guard team is coached by Kelly Gronemeyer.
