OLS gears up for the 4th of July
Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church’s parishioners, including the Knights of Columbus and Trash & Treasure volunteers, are busy preparing for the parish’s 76th Independence Day Festival. On June 21, volunteers spent hours sorting donations in the gym and decorating the church grounds. The Trash & Treasure opens the festival at 8 a.m. on July 4 and runs until 4 p.m. Delicious plates featuring a selection of pork, ribs, chicken, hot dogs, and dessert will be available in the Parish Hall during the festival from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Desserts will feature cakes baked by church members. Bulk orders will be available, also. A raffle drawing at 3 p.m. will award 11 prizes, including a grand prize of $10,000. Members of the Knights of Columbus are excited to man the barbecue pits to help raise money for charities. The parish is pleased to show hospitality and patriotic fun to the community during Birmingham’s oldest Independence Day festival.
