Holy Family Capital Campaign kick-off
On Sunday, Aug. 29, St. Joseph Catholic Church in Huntsville will host Taste and See, the Holy Family Capital Campaign Kick-off event. The evening will begin in the Father Messmer Center with music and gathering at 4:30 p.m. followed by Mass at 5 p.m. A reception with heavy hors d’oeuvres will be held after Mass. Pell City Knights to hold barbecue sale
At Our Lady of the Lake Pell City Knights of Columbus (KOC) Council 12270 will be selling barbeque for the Labor Day holiday. Boston butts will be sold for $40, large pork ribs will be $30, and a whole chicken will cost $10. All meat will be freshly smoked with KOC “special dry rub.” Sales begin Friday Sept. 3 at 8:00 a.m. and continue through Saturday Sept. 4. All proceeds will be used to fund the numerous charitable activities KOC Council 12270 supports.
Our Lady of the Lake is located at 4609 Martin St. (Hwy. 231 South) in Pell City.

Cathedral of St. Paul Knights of Columbus to hold smoked meat sale
End summer the right way and let the Cathedral of St. Paul’s Knights of Columbus cook for you. The Knights are holding a smoked meat sale for the Labor Day holiday. The Knights will have Boston Butts for $35, spare ribs for $25, and two chicken halves for $10.
Orders can be placed via email, phone or in-person. Email orders to amaenza7645@charter.net or jp_brueggen@yahoo.com. Call-in orders to 205-527-0192. In-person orders can be placed by speaking with any Cathedral Knight of Columbus after a weekend Mass during the month of August. All orders must be placed no later than Sunday, Aug. 29. Orders may be picked up on Friday, Sept. 3, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.; Saturday, Sept. 4, following the 5 p.m. Mass, and Sunday Sept. 5, following all Masses until 12:30 p.m.
Purchases can be made by cash, checks, or credit card. Orders can be picked up at the Cathedral Parish Life Center.

Blessed Trinity Shrine Retreat to offer in-person retreats
Blessed Trinity Shrine Retreat is offering in-person retreats again in the fall. The first retreat, The Three Secrets of Resilience, will be led by Father Matt Linn and take place Sept. 3. Also starting Sept. 3 and led by Father Matt Linn will be Healing Our Deepest Fear: Discover the Joy and Satisfaction of Living. This retreat will conclude on Sept. 5.
On Sept. 18, Sister Gail Lambert, MSBT, will lead Beginning Again, A Blessed Lunch – Fellowship and Wisdom for Living. The next retreat to be offered will be Rosary Pilgrimage to the Grotto – for our Nation and World Peace on Oct. 3. At the end of October, Father Mike Kerin will lead Living Abundantly: Reducing Stress and Living Well on Oct. 20.

Holy Family High School to hold group reunion
Due to a culmination of events including the delay of the Holy Family High School (HFH) Class of 1970 50th reunion due to Covid-19 and the demolition of the old school building, alumni have decided to gather on Saturday, Sept. 4, and celebrate a "reunion" for all classes from 1943 - 2019 spotlighting the class of 1970. Classes and individuals can purchase tables and tickets. Each table can seat a total of eight people, socially distanced. If eight people of one class are present, the table will be designated as such. Of course, all the classes in attendance will be recognized.
The reunion will take place at the Doubletree Hilton Hotel at 808 20th St., S., in Birmingham. Funds raised, after expenses, will be donated to Holy Family Academy.
