St. Francis of Assisi animal blessing
On the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, Good Shepherd Catholic Parish in Huntsville will hold a blessing of animals for pets on the parish’s athletic field at 9 a.m. All pets must be properly restrained. Bingo Fundraiser
The Ladies of Charity of Central Alabama will host their second annual Bingo Fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church’s Parish Hall. Ladies from around the diocese are invited to attend the luncheon, which will feature Bingo, a drawing, a silent auction, and rosary making. Proceeds from the event will go to the group’s community outreach. World Mission Sunday
The diocese will hold a second collection at all parishes to support World Mission Sunday, which is sponsored by the Society for the Propagation of the Faith, one of the Pontifical Mission Societies. St Marks Knights of Columbus Flea Market
On Thursday and Friday, St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Parish will host the Knights of Columbus Flea Market from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Those wishing to get an early start, can make a donation of $2 to the parish’s Intellectual Disability Campaign. The last day of the market will be Saturday, with hours from 7 a.m. until noon. Thousands of items will be available, including furniture, clothing, shoes, jewelry, purses, tools, toys, books, artwork, and electronics. Prices will drop each day. Beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday, shoppers can fill a small bag for $12, a large bag for $20, or a car for $75. Proceeds will benefit the Intellectual Disabilities Campaign, pregnancy support centers, Catholic education, and parish ministries. The church is located at 7340 Cahaba Valley Road in Birmingham. Seminary Live-in
The diocesan Office of Vocations will host a seminary live-in. Men ranging in ages from 21 to 35 are invited to accompany Father Wyman Vintson, diocesan Vocations Director, for a weekend at Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans, Louisiana. Red Mass
The diocese will hold the annual Red Mass at the Cathedral of St. Paul, beginning at 6 p.m. and followed by a reception. The Red Mass is a tradition within the Catholic Church dating back to the 13th century, when it officially opened the term of the court. The cathedral is located at 2120 3rd Avenue, North in Birmingham.
