Silver Rose Prayer Services in the Hunstville area
Huntsville area Knights of Columbus Councils and local parishes will be hosting Silver Rose Prayer Services beginning Sept. 7. The Silver Rose Prayer Service is a Marian prayer service devoted to the protection and dignity of life at all stages and hosted by the Knights of Columbus. Each service is open to all those who wish to attend.
Coordinated around the visit of a silver rose, eight silver roses are currently traveling throughout North America in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Thus far in the diocese, programs are scheduled at Most Merciful Jesus Catholic Church in Madison for Tuesday, Sept. 7, at 6 p.m.; St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Madison for Wednesday, Sept. 8, at 7 p.m.; Clinica Medica Moscati in Huntsville for Thursday, Sept. 9, at 10 a.m.; Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Huntsville for Thursday, Sept. 9, at 6:30 p.m.; and Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Huntsville for Friday, Sept. 10, at 11 a.m.

Good News and Cold Brews
Good News and Cold Brews will meet at The Nook in Huntsville at 7 p.m. this Thursday, Sept. 9. This month's guest speaker is Father Joy Nellissery, pastor of St. Mary of the Visitation Catholic Church in Huntsville. Good News and Cold Brews is open to all area young adults from ages 21 to 35. The group meets outside on the Nook's patio, and you can purchase food and drinks while you are there.

Widows and Widowers Lunch group
The area Widows and Widowers Lunch group for local Catholics will meet this Thursday, September 9. This month's lunch will be at Red Lobster on University Drive at 1 p.m. These lunches are informal, and newcomers are always welcome. They offer an opportunity to meet and visit with others while enjoying a good meal together. Homeschoolers Mass
All homeschoolers and their families are invited to the annual Homeschool Mass at the Cathedral of St. Paul on Sept. 9 at 6 p.m. The Cathedral is located at 2120 3rd Ave., N., in Birmingham.

Good Shepherd seniors’ luncheon
Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Huntsville will offer its next monthly Mass and luncheon for parish seniors on Tuesday, Sept. 14. The Mass is at 11 a.m. and will be followed by lunch in the Parish Hall. This Mass and luncheon are for parishioners age 65 and up, and reservations to the parish office are requested so that they know how many people to expect. Hispanic Missionary Day
The annual Hispanic Missionary Day will take place at St. Francis Xavier Church in Birmingham on Sept. 18., beginning at 8:30 a.m. Bishop Raica will celebrate Mass at 9 a.m. The day of fellowship and speakers will conclude at 3 p.m. St. Francis Xavier is located at 2 Xavier Cir. in Birmingham.

St. George Middle Eastern Food Festival is back with slight changes
As St. George Melkite Catholic Church celebrates its centennial year in 2021, it also prepares for its 39th Middle Eastern Food Festival scheduled for September 23-25.
Co-Chair, Annette Ritchey said, “We hoped to have a full-fledged festival, but modifications have been made in accordance to CDC guidelines for the safety of our supporters and parishioners.”
The food festival will take place at St. George Melkite Catholic Church, near UAB at 425 16th Avenue South. The hours of operation are 11 a.m.-8 p.m. The festival offers a convenient drive through service between the hours of 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Lunch orders of $100.00 or more can be delivered within 5 miles of St. George on Thursday and Friday. Delivery will be available between 10:30 a.m.-8 p.m. Place orders on Wednesday, Sept. 22 for Thursday lunch delivery and Thursday, Sept. 23 for Friday lunch delivery.

The menu of delicious foods include: baked Kibbee, stuffed grape leaves, spinach pies, meat pies, Falafel, Mediterranean style chicken and more. For a taste of most everything try the Nile Plate or Oasis Plate. The Nile includes Kibbee as its entrée and the Oasis includes Mediterranean style chicken as its entrée. Both plates include rice and green beans cooked in seasoned tomato sauce, freshly made salad, grape leaves, and Hummus and pita bread. The menu offers vegetarian plates and sides as well.
An incredible array of boxed Middle Eastern sweets will be offered.
Tours of the beautiful Byzantine church will be conducted Thursday and Friday evenings and all day Saturday. (masks required)

Morgan Jellet Memorial Friends of the Poor® Walk/Run
Help those in need by participating in North Alabama’s St. Vincent de Paul Friends of the Poor® Walk/Run on Saturday, Sept. 25 at Our Lady Queen of the Universe. This year’s event remembers Vincentian Morgan Jellett, former president of the St. Vincent de Paul District Council of Huntsville.
On-site registration begins at 7 a.m. with the 1K Children’s Fun Run at 8 a.m. The 5K Walk/Run will follow the fun run.
Free breakfast and fun for all! Even more, you are helping to bring food, clothing, rent, utilities, and disaster relief to the poor and suffering in North Alabama.

Sacred Heart to sell food for Oktoberfest
For the past 30 years, members of the Altar Society of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Cullman have taken part in the celebration of the city’s German heritage, providing an Oktoberfest German dinner of bratwurst, country style sauerkraut, German potato salad, green beans, applesauce, bread and desserts for the community.
This year the event will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 29, in the church’s parking lot from 4-7 p.m. Drive-thru only. Meals are $12.00 per plate. All proceeds go towards the upkeep of the church's sanctuary and special.
