Clean Out for Christ
St. Patrick Catholic Church in Adamsville will hold its sixth annual Clean Out for Christ indoor yard sale the first weekend in October. The sale will be held in conjunction with the City of Adamsville's 15th Annual City-Wide Yard Sale. Credit cards and cash will be accepted (no checks please), and the concession stand will be open for the duration of the sale serving breakfast and lunch items. The sale will be well-organized and feature well-priced items. On Friday and Saturday, the sale hours will be 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. On Sunday, the hours will be 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., and everything except furniture will be half price. 4th Annual Green Mass

Grand Kermes
Annunciation of the Lord Catholic Church in Decatur will hold a Grand Kermes from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. The event will take place on the church grounds and will include plenty of food, soccer and basketball tournaments, children's games, and more. There will also be a sweepstakes with the grand prize being a 2018 Nissan Pathfinder and the second place being a 2018 Toyota Camry. All proceeds from the event will go towards the parish’s new church building initiative. The church is located at 3910 Spring Avenue, Southwest. FBI Citizens’ Academy Alumni Association Elder Fraud Conference
Holy Family Catholic Church will host the FBI’s Citizens’ Academy Alumni Association Elder Fraud Conference from 1-3 p.m. The conference is free to attend, and lunch will be provided. During the event, the best ways to prevent the scams and fraud that are perpetrated against senior citizens will be shared. The church is located at 1910 19th Street in Ensley. Ladies of Charity of Central Alabama to host fundraiser
The faithful of the Diocese of Birmingham are invited to a Bingo luncheon fundraiser to be hosted by the Ladies of Charity of Central Alabama (LCCA) on Wednesday, Oct. 9, from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church’s Parish Hall in Birmingham. The event promises to be a delightful afternoon of lunch, Bingo, and activities that will include a silent auction, a raffle, and door prizes. Tickets are $20, which includes lunch and one card, and may be purchased online at https://buy.ticketstothecity.com/venue.php?org_id=771. Additional cards can be purchased for $5 each. Raffle tickets are $5 each or 6 for $25. The grand prize will be $500, and the second and third prizes will be $200 and $100, respectively. Seating is limited, so early reservations are recommended. Knights of Columbus flea market
The Knights of Columbus of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in Birmingham will hold a parish-wide flea market at the parish’s Youth Center from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and from 7 a.m.-Noon on Saturday. Items for sale include a 1993 Mercedes 500 SEL, furniture, art, guitars, books, tools, sporting goods, toys, electronics, tons of clothing, 25,000 baseball cards, 15,000 oversized landscape brick, and much more. Proceeds from the market will go to benefit many local and statewide charities including intellectual disability campaigns, pregnancy centers, Catholic education, and homeless ministries. Adoration Sodality Day of Recollection
From 7 a.m. until 4 p.m., the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament will host an Adoration Sodality Day of Recollection. The day will consist of Mass, confessions, a spiritual talk, and tours of the shrine and Pope St. John Paul II Eucharistic Center, with free breakfast and lunch. This monthly event is free to attend and open to all. You do not have to be a member of the Adoration Sodality to attend. The shrine is located at 3224 County Road 548 in Hanceville. ‘A Walk with Joey’
St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Hoover will hold a special “hot dog and a movie night,” starting at 6 p.m. The movie will be shown in the church’s Social Hall, and admission is free. Donations are welcome, however. The movie is based on the true and inspiring story of 1992 John Carroll graduate Joey Hale and the film is directed and produced by 1996 graduate Dana Lynn Falletta. Local high school hosts 'Trailblazer Legacy Coffee'
John Carroll Catholic High School will hold an event in the school's library conference room for students and alumni from 8:15 until 9 a.m., featuring alumni Dr. Deven Mayes Tellis and Hailey Mason, authors of children's books. Financial literacy workshop
St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fairfield will host a workshop in the social hall on establishing wills and estate planning. This is the second in a series of financial literacy workshops hosted by the parish in conjunction with First Horizon Bank. Red Mass
The diocese will hold the annual Red Mass at the Cathedral of St. Paul, beginning at 6 p.m. and followed by a reception. The Red Mass is a tradition within the Catholic Church dating back to the 13th century, when it officially opened the term of the court. The cathedral is located at 2120 3rd Avenue, North in Birmingham.

St. Bernard Prep to host open house
St. Bernard Preparatory School in Cullman will welcome prospective families to its open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event provides an excellent opportunity to discover the academic, social, and athletic programs offered at Alabama’s only Catholic boarding school. Visitors will have the chance to meet current students, who will serve as ambassadors and tour guides, sharing their personal experiences and offering insight into life at St. Bernard, both as a day school and boarding school.
