Rey of Hope Gala

The 2024 Rey of Hope Gala, supporting Holy Family Cristo Rey Catholic High School (HFCR), will be held from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m. at The Club. The Gala begins with a cocktail reception and silent auction, followed by a seated dinner, program, and live auction. During the event, the progress of Holy Family Cristo Rey will be showcased through the voices of leadership and, more importantly, the school’s scholars. The 2023 Gala raised more than $767,000 last year to support HFCR students, fueling dreams and transforms lives. Tickets and tables are available for purchase now at bit.ly/roh2024. Boots, Brews, and BBQ

Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in Birmingham will hold Boots, Brews, and BBQ, a fundraiser for the parish’s youth ministry, from 6-9 p.m. The night will feature great food, music, dancing, drinks, a silent auction, a costume contest, and a raffle. The menu for the evening will include pulled pork, baby back ribs, French fries, baked beans, cole slaw, and banana pudding. The raffle grand prize, which does not require being present to win, is $1,000, and the second and third prizes are $500 and $250, respectively. All raffle tickets are $10 each or 3 for $20. Tickets to attend the event are $30 each or two for $50, which includes two drink tickets per person. The opportunity to purchase a table for eight is also available. The funds raised by the event will allow the youth of the parish to attend a Catholic camp in Nashville as well as other events throughout the year. The church is located at 5514 Double Oak Lane. Springfest

Get ready for a day of fun, food, and fellowship at Springfest, hosted by St. Patrick Catholic Church in Adamsville from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Several highlights will be the Springfest Market, featuring high-quality handmade items and merchandise, a raffle with a chance to win the grand prize of $1,500, and Bingo. Kids will have the opportunity to enjoy inflatables, games, and snow cones. Authentic Hispanic dishes and familiar American fare will be available for purchase. At 1 p.m., the Springfest auction will begin. The online catalog can be viewed and bids can be placed in advance. The church is located at 301 Shamrock Trail. Magnificat Breakfast

The Magnificat Breakfast will be held on Saturday, May 4, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at St. Elias Maronite Church in the Parish Hall. The speaker, Denise Mercado, is an award-winning author and blogger who has done extensive research into the beauty and history of the Catholic Church. Through her writings, she hopes to inspire others to overcome the difficulties of life with the gift of God. Tickets are $20 and include a catered breakfast. 2nd annual Mercy Parish Bless Fest

Most Merciful Jesus Catholic Parish in Madison will be hosting their 2nd annual Bless Fest from 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. both days. For a family admission of $5, attendees can shop at various craft tents, enjoy live entertainment, let the kids play a few games, participate in an auction, eat a yummy treat, sit and relax with a fresh burger or brat, donate toward sweepstakes tickets to win a $3,000, $1,000 or $500 cash prize, or donate towards 50/50 raffle tickets for another cash prize giveaway. Father Louis Giardino Falcon Classic

St. John Paul II Catholic High School in Huntsville will hold its annual Father Louis Giardino Falcon Classic Golf Tournament at the Huntsville Country Club, beginning with lunch at 11:30 a.m. A shotgun start will follow at 1 p.m. Registration includes a goody bag, green fees for 18 holes, a golf cart, range balls, beverages and snacks on the course, lunch, entry into JPII social, awards, and four hole-in-one contests, including a chance to win a car from Woody Anderson Ford. Registration is $150 per golfer or $600 per team. All proceeds go to benefit the St. John Paull II Catholic High School Athletic Program. Diocesan homeschool graduation

Birmingham Catholic Homeschool graduation, open to all graduating homeschoolers in the Diocese of Birmingham, will begin with vespers led by Father Bryan Jerabek at 5 p.m. A procession, blessing, and tossing of the caps will follow. Seniors will be able to display pictures, awards, and accomplishments on their own display table. Light refreshments and a reception will conclude the evening. The cathedral is located at 2120 3rd Avenue, North. Adoration Sodality Day of Recollection 

The Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament will host a Day of Recollection from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. The day will consist of Mass, confession, a spiritual talk, a Eucharistic Healing Service, tours of the shrine and Pope St. John Paul II Eucharistic Center, as well as free breakfast and lunch. The guest speaker will be Father Augustine Wetta, O.S.B. This monthly event is free to attend and open to all. The shrine is located at 3222 County Road 548 in Hanceville. 20th annual Golf Fore Life

Her Choice Birmingham Women’s Center will hold their annual Golf Fore Life event at Highland Park Golf Course, starting with registration at 7:45 a.m. The shotgun start will happen at 9 a.m. The cost is $250 ($125 tax deductible) per individual golfer and prizes will be awarded immediately following the tournament. Individuals, families, and companies are also invited to be a hole sponsor for $500 or a half Hole Sponsor for $250.00. The center’s ministry exists to help women facing a crisis pregnancy choose life and to support them in that decision. Post-abortion healing support is also offered. The Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament will host Vespers with the Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration at 5 p.m., marking the 62nd anniversary of Our Lady of the Angels Monastery in Alabama. Parish to hold Kermes festival

Annunciation of the Lord Catholic Church in Decatur will hold a Kermes festival from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. The festival will feature a sweepstakes. For a $25 donation, participants can enter to win a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 truck, a whirlpool refrigerator, a Samsung washer and dryer set, a Samsung TV, or Tupperware. Soccer and basketball tournaments will also be held for adult teams. The church is located at 3910 Spring Avenue, Southwest.
