Prayer Breakfast

Due to winter weather, the Catholic Diocese of Birmingham in Alabama’s Office of Black Catholic Ministry rescheduled their annual MLK breakfast. The Diocesan Prayer Breakfast in commemoration of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., will take place at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Hoover, starting at 10 a.m. During the breakfast, Sister Patti Chappelle, SNDdeN, a social worker for the District of Columbia, will offer a personal reflection, "Where do we go from here?" Tickets are still available for $25 and can be purchased through the Office of Black Catholic Ministry, jwatts@bhmdiocese.org or 205.838.8313. St. Peter’s is located at 2061 Patton Chapel Road.

Lenten retreat for women

Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church’s Altar Society will sponsor a women’s retreat, “Women at the Well: Preparing your Hearts for Lent,” featuring guest speaker Lindy Wynne, the host of the Mamas in Spirt Catholic podcast. Registration for the retreat begins at 8 a.m., and the retreat will take place from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. with confessions immediately afterward and Mass at 5:30 p.m. Snacks and lunch will be provided. Knights Lenten adoration at Holy Rosary

All Knights of Columbus and their families in the Diocese of Birmingham are invited to attend “some quiet time” with the Lord at Holy Rosary Catholic Church from 6-7 p.m. The church is located at 7414 Georgia Road in Birmingham. For more information, please contact Mike Geerts at 205.266.3065.

Knights of Columbus Corporate Mass

The Cathedral of St. Paul’s Knights of Columbus St. John Vianney Assembly and James E. Coyle Council will host a Knights of Columbus Corporate Mass for all Knights in the Diocese of Birmingham. The Mass will be celebrated at the Cathedral, beginning at 5 p.m. All Knights (First, Second, Third, and Fourth degree) are encouraged to dress in attire associated with the Knights. Fourth Degree Knights wishing to attend in regalia are also encouraged to arrive at 4:30 p.m. in order to participate in the Honor Guard. Rite of Election-Huntsville

The diocese will hold the Rite of Election at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Huntsville at 10 a.m. The Call to Continuing Conversion will also be held at Holy Spirit the same day at 1 p.m. For more information, contact the Office at Sacred Liturgy at sacredliturgy@bhmdiocese.org. Rite of Election-Birmingham

Lenten Night of Reflections

Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Birmingham will host a Lenten Night of Reflections, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Father Frankline Fomukong will be the guest speaker. Youth & Young Adult Lenten Retreat

Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Birmingham will host a Youth & Young Adult Lenten Retreat from 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. During the retreat, participants will view the blockbuster hit The Forge followed by open discussions. Lenten Mission

The Cathedral of St. Paul will hold a free Lenten Mission led by an international team of Dominican Friars. The mission’s theme is “The Presence of God,” and it will feature daytime and evening tracks to accommodate all schedules. On Wednesday, the mission will conclude with a Eucharistic Healing Service. Lenten Fish Fry

Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church's Knights of Peter Claver Council #140 will hold a Lenten Fish Fry from 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. in the church's Parish Life Center. The menu will include catfish and whiting plates as well as sandwiches. Dine-in or carryout will be available. The church is located at 708 1st Street, South in Birmingham. St. Mark Knights of Columbus Flea Market

St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church’s Knights of Columbus will host a church-wide flea market in the parish’s Youth Center. On Thursday and Friday, the hours of the sale will be 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. On Saturday, the hours will be 7 a.m. until noon. Items for sale include furniture, clothes, tools, appliances, toys, books, artwork, and much more. Proceeds are donated to charities that support the unborn, persons with intellectual disabilities, the homeless, and Catholic education. Unsold items will be donated to Kings Ranch and Salvation Army. The church is located at 7340 Cahaba Valley Road in Birmingham.
