Magnificat Breakfast
The Magnificat Breakfast will be held on Saturday, Aug. 3, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in St. Elias Maronite Church’s Parish Hall. The speaker, Father Eric Gami, is the administrator of St. Barnabas and Holy Rosary Catholic Churches in Birmingham. He is also the spiritual advisor to the Birmingham Magnificat Chapter. Tickets are $20 each and include a catered breakfast. Tickets are available online at BirminghamMagnificat.org or by contacting Lucy at 205.529.0259. Tickets are also available for purchase at Alpha Church Supply and Holy Roses Flowers and Gifts. No tickets are sold at the door or after July 28.

The memorial Mass marking the 103rd anniversary of Father James E. Coyle’s death for the faith will be celebrated at the Cathedral of St. Paul at 10 a.m. A reception will follow. Parish marks 50th anniversary
Our Lady of the Shoals Catholic Church in Tuscmbia will mark the parish’s 50th anniversary with a Mass celebrated by Bishop Raica at 10 a.m. After the Mass, parishioners and guests are invited to a meal, entertainment, an art display, and sharing of history in the Holy Family Parish Hall. Apostolate to hold training workshop
Nazareth House is seeking Catholic high school youth to volunteer as teachers for the 2024-2025 school year and will hold a training and orientation workshop from 9 a.m. until noon at St. Francis Xavier Catholic School in Birmingham. Nazareth House provides religious education, sacrament preparation, and liturgy to children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. 'Fishers of Men' Dinner
The Guadalupe Radio Network in Alabama will hold its 6th annual “Fishers of Men” Dinner at the Harbert Center in Downtown Birmingham. Doors open at 6 p.m., starting with a social hour. The dinner begins at 7 p.m. Nationally recognized author and conference speaker, Father Donald Calloway, Vicar General and Vocations Director for the Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception, will be the keynote speaker. Father Calloway, a well-known convert and conference speaker, is the author of 15 books, including Consecration to St. Joseph. This year’s honoree for the “Fishers of Men” Catholic Award is Father Jose Chacko for his indefatigable efforts in evangelization through ministry at his parish of St. James, Hispanic ministry, and St. James Catholic School, and his faithful support of the Guadalupe Radio Network. St. William Seafood Festival
Ahoy seafood lovers. St. William Catholic Church in Guntersville will hold it 54th St. William Seafood Festival Saturday, Aug. 31, in the church’s Foley Center. The drive-thru will open at 7 a.m. for those wishing to purchase gumbo and Cajun boiled shrimp. Dine-in will open at 10:30 a.m., offering gumbo, Cajun boiled shrimp, BBQ or catfish dinners, and a la carte items (rice, coleslaw, hush puppies).
