Students celebrate Our Lady of Sorrows Feast Day

Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School recently observed the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows with a special prayer service. The entire student body gathered in the church to reflect on the seven sorrows of Mary as foretold by Simeon in the Temple when he encountered the Holy Family at the Presentation of Jesus. The 8th graders shared a meditation for each sorrow as a student placed a precious rose next to the corresponding stained-glass window. Mary’s seven sorrows are also symbolized in the church with the crosses that surround the Pieta, or sculpture of her holding her crucified Son that is displayed high above the altar in the church.
