John Carroll Catholic High School senior golfer, Kaitlyn Shields, has signed to play her collegiate golf career at Belmont Abbey College. Shields led the girls to AHSAA state competition in 2021. Currently, she is the 2022 team captain. Shields and her teammates are undefeated (3-0) in the early spring season and are expected to make another run at the State Title. Belmont Abbey College is a private liberal arts school located in Belmont, North Carolina, and it is dubbed the Catholic College of the South. The Crusaders compete in NCAA Division II as a part of Conference Carolinas. Shields is the daughter of Jack and Anita Shields of Chelsea and is a graduate of Prince of Peace Catholic School.
