“Go to Mary for your needs, and she will intervene,” Father Paul Asih, M.S.J., told the St. Francis of Assisi congregation at the Bessemer church’s annual May Crowning. The much-anticipated event is a tradition at St. Francis. The congregation paid tribute in song as St. Francis youth processed down the main aisle to a statue of Mary. Kelechi Orji, assisted by Cole Perryman, placed a crown of flowers on the statue.
