Red Cross Blood Drive makes a difference

Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church (OLS) in Homewood welcomed the community on March 19 during an American Red Cross blood drive. The joint effort by the Red Cross and OLS was organized by the Knights of Columbus Council 4304. The Red Cross states that just one donation can save up to three lives. During the five-hour endeavor at OLS, phlebotomists drew 36 units of blood products. Donors and their families were treated to a hot breakfast cooked and served by the Knights. Donated blood benefits patients with cancer, sickle cell anemia, burns, and those with chronic diseases.
