Red Cross Blood Drive Exceeds Goal

Parishioners and guests at Our Lady of Sorrows Church (OLS) marked March as Red Cross Month by turning out for a community blood drive on March 20. It was a team effort by the American Red Cross and OLS with organization help from the Knights of Columbus. During the five-hour event, phlebotomists drew blood from more donors than expected. Thirty-seven units were collected, surpassing the 25-unit goal. Donors received Red Cross t-shirts stressing the importance of blood donations in the fight against sickle cell anemia. Sickle cell anemia is a genetic red blood cell disorder. The American Red Cross is over 140 years old and its next scheduled blood drive at OLS is in May.
