OLS Volunteers Provide Treats for the Hungry

A team of Our Lady of Sorrows (OLS) volunteers spent Halloween morning adding treats to lunches they prepared for the food insecure. The lunches were delivered by the non-profit food van Food For Our Journey (FFOJ). The volunteers included men, women, and youngsters. They cooked and prepared more than 200 to-go plates with pasta salad, fruit salad, bread, and sweet treats in festive orange, black, and yellow goody bags. The FFOJ van goes to locations in Birmingham to feed people who have no transportation to food pantries. The van serves 700 meals and drinks a day, seven days a week. Donations are accepted every Wednesday morning in the OLS parking lot. Needed items include bottled water, soft fruit, masks, clean socks, and sandwiches. Please wear a mask and food preparation gloves when making sandwiches.
