OLS teams up with Temple Emanu-El to relieve hunger

An interfaith project this Advent helped feed hundreds of people in metro Birmingham. Members of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Guild at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish were joined in the church kitchen on a recent Sunday morning by several members of the Temple Emanu-El Youth Group. The volunteers united to make and pack hot lunches for more than 200 food insecure residents served by the Food for Our Journey (FFOJ) nonprofit van. The menu on Dec. 10 included taco casserole, chicken casserole, slaw, and bread pudding. The FFOJ van makes several stops throughout Birmingham daily serving people who do not have transportation to go to food pantries.
