Volunteers gear up to share faith and fun at annual July 4th festival
Volunteers are fine-tuning preparations for the 74th annual Fourth of July Festival at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Birminghamā€™s oldest Independence Day festival. The Knights of Columbus Council 4304 coordinates the event set for July 4 on church grounds.
The Knights will cook and serve four tons of barbeque including: Boston butts, boneless turkey breasts, chopped pork as well as ribs and chicken halves. Bulk or plates will be sold from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The day will include not only meals but games, a bake sale, bingo, a raffle, and the Trash and Treasures rummage sale for bargain hunters. The proceeds of the fundraiser will be shared by Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School and various charities of the Knights. The parish welcomes the opportunity to share hospitality and patriotic fun with the community.
