Par 4 Knights donates $37,800 to Alabama charities
For a third year in a row, on May 19, St. William Catholic Church’s Knights of Columbus successfully completed their premier fundraiser, Par 4 Knights Charity Golf Tournament, which supports local Marshall County charities. Held at Gunter’s Landing Golf Course in Guntersville, the event is a one-day event with sponsors and golfers donating their time and money to support the year’s designated charities.
The four-person golf teams competed for prizes that included best team score, longest drive, closest to the pin, hole-in-one, and a putting contest. This year alone, the Par 4 Knights team raised $18,000 and presented $5,000 checks to Kelly’s Rainbow, Marshall County Home Place, and Man-up Gadsden. Respectively, the charities provide help for women and children dealing with domestic abuse, assist with transitioning homeless people, and support cancer awareness and treatment for men. An additional $3,000 will help the Knights support other charities for the remainder of 2025. In previous years, the fundraiser has benefitted local police, firefighters, persons with intellectual disabilities, a pregnancy center, and hospice.
The Par 4 Knights committee chairperson, Ray Nelson, stated: “This year was our most successful so far and we were very pleased with the charities selected to receive the donation and their response from our contribution. The many companies and individuals that supported us with donations are the key to our success.”
Planning has already begun for the fourth annual event, which is scheduled for May 18, 2026. Nelson has accepted the challenge to lead the upcoming event, so please contact him at Par4Knights@gmail.com to sponsor an event or field a team of players for the 2026 event.
