
Tuscaloosa’s Holy Spirit Catholic School Class of 2025
On Saturday, May 17, Holy Spirit Catholic School in Tuscaloosa celebrated thirty-nine seniors with a Baccalaureate Mass and Commencement. The Mass was celebrated by Msgr. Michael Deering, pastor of Holy Spirit Parish, with Father Juan Corral concelebrating. Superintendent Margaret Dubose, Elementary Principal Josh Saibini, and Middle/High School Principal Jonathan Loper conducted the commencement ceremony.
The Class of 2025 included Donald Becklin Abney, Benjamin Keene Taylor Andrus, Jarran Denise Arrington, Walden Redding Baker, James Timothy Besanceney, Nola Suzanne Besant, Isabella Catherine Burrows, Madison Paige Cameron, Breana Leigh Cook, Martha William DiChiara, Kynna Rilye Eaton, Savannah Grace Fikes, Cole Taylor Geer, Marley Lynn Griffin, Austin Thomas Hemstreet, Mateo Stephen Akiro Innis-Kopelson, Joseph Ian Jones, Miranda Marie Keith, Luke Allan Langkawel, Elizabeth Lee Lulue, Mallory Leann Masterson, Bailey Elizabeth McLaurine, Zahir Alexander Mireles, Savannah Malyn Osborn, Azariah Perry Price, James Owen Rock, Ethan Phillip Ryan, Emily Rose Sabatino, John Patrick Schaetzle, Jacorey Jamal Stevens, Cena Rose Stewart, Michael Alex Tant, Christopher Dewayne Thompson, Tyler Brendon Turner, Ruben Vega, Adeline Deneé Veillon, Bria Emily Wells, Chase Alexander Wilson, and Mary Berkley Young.
The seniors were accepted to forty-nine colleges and universities, and as of graduation, the Class of 2025 amassed over $3.2 million in total scholarship offers. The students will be attending Bard College, Capital University, Mississippi State University, Northern Michigan University, Samford University, Shelton State Community College, Southwestern University, Troy University, Tuskegee University, University of Alabama, University of Alabama at Birmingham, University of Mississippi, University of Notre Dame, University of South Alabama, and University of West Alabama.
Honor graduates with a grade point average over 4.0 included Donald Abney, Walden Baker, JT Besanceney, Martie DiChiara, Austin Hemstreet, Miranda Keith, Bailey McLaurine, Zahir Mireles, Owen Rock, Emily Sabatino, Ruben Vega, Adeline Veillon, and Berkley Young. Twenty-two students received the President’s Educational Excellence Award, and four students earned over a 30 on the ACT. Two graduated as AP Scholars with Honors, and three students graduated as AP Scholars. Twenty-three were members of the Bishop David Foley Chapter of the National Honor Society, and fifteen students were members of Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society. Ten were members of the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica, and six students were members of the NJCL Latin Honor Society.
Amazingly, the Class of 2025 completed over 2,000 hours of community service during their junior and senior years, and ninety-two percent of the class participated in athletics during their high school career.
Donald Abney was the salutatorian, and Andrew Hemstreet was the valedictorian. The Bishop’s Trophy recipient was Emily Sabatino.
