Catholic Charismatic Renewal of Birmingham to hold annual conference

The Catholic Charismatic Renewal of Birmingham, AL, Inc., will hold its 26th annual conference for the Diocese of Birmingham on July 24–25 at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish Family Life Center.

The Spirit-filled conference will center on the theme, “Psalm 111: A Personal Walk with Jesus, Daily Union with God in Difficult Times.” The weekend will feature Fathers Frankline Fomukong, James Hedderman, Jacob R. Ebong Ntoko, and Paul Asih. Other speakers will be Ron Sirman, Allen and Sally Smith, Jackie Smoke, Jeff Anderson, and Dan Gardner.

Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 6 p.m. and a Vigil Mass will be celebrated on Saturday. Father James Hedderman and Sister Anne Marie Schreiner, D.C., will offer spiritual direction during the conference.

The invitation to walk with Jesus means studying God’s mighty works, relying on His promises, and living a life rooted in reverence. We are called to love and serve one another. Through our Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, we are blessed with many gifts that guide and strengthen us each day. As we serve others, we also grow spiritually, enriching our own lives as well as the lives of those around us.

Our Lord nourishes us through His teachings—from the parable of the sower and the seed to the treasure of great price—and calls us to live out both the corporal and spiritual works of mercy. Come and be blessed. As Psalm 111:10 reminds us, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; those who are guided by it will grow in understanding. His praise will last forever.”

The registration fee to attend the conference is $30 for individuals and $85 for a family of three or more. Our Lady of Sorrows is located at 1728 Oxmoor Road in Homewood.
