Sensory Chapel

Nazareth House, a diocesan apostolate providing religious education, sacrament preparation, and liturgy to children with intellectual and developmental disabilities, is currently supporting St. Francis of Xavier Catholic Church’s efforts to offer a sensory-friendly Mass. The Birmingham parish calls its new ministry Sensory Chapel. Every Sunday evening at 5 p.m., the chapel will live-stream the Mass taking place in the main church.

While all parishes welcome people of all abilities to Mass, some families have members with conditions making it difficult or not possible to attend traditional Mass. With encouragement, some will be able to use the Sensory Chapel to learn to attend Mass in the main sanctuary.

All families in need of a sensory-friendly Mass are encouraged to attend. For questions or for volunteer information, please e-mail sawisely@gmail.com or mkcarey@glenwood.org.
