Rachel Barranco has been appointed assistant principal of Prince of Peace Catholic School in Hoover. She has been a teacher at the school for the past fourteen years. In addition to her administrative duties, she will lead the middle school house service and fellowship program.  

"When I walked into the doors of Prince of Peace fourteen years ago, it immediately felt like home,” Barranco remarked. “Prince of Peace is an amazing community. I feel blessed to have been given the opportunity to help lead our middle school and continue the legacy of academic excellence and faith formation that has been created." 

Barranco holds bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She has led the middle school House program for four years, been on multiple school committees, attended yearly professional development opportunities, and collaborated with the John Carroll Catholic math department chair to help lead a regional professional development session.

She lives in Hoover with her husband Charlie and their four children, Maddie, Sophia, Juliana, and Hab. Three of her children are students at Prince of Peace; the eldest graduated and will attend John Carroll Catholic High School in the fall.
