Prince of Peace Culture Day: Many cultures, one faith
Prince of Peace Catholic School in Hoover recently celebrated POP Culture Day, a joyful and faith-filled expression of the rich diversity that strengthens the school community. The day was a resounding success, as students were invited to encounter traditions, languages, stories, and customs from across the globe, which were generously shared by families representing Bolivia, China, Colombia, Guatemala, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, the Philippines, and Vietnam.
United in Catholic identity, the community embraced the many cultures that shape the students’ lives while affirming the shared faith that brings them together. Colorful displays and meaningful conversations filled the school gym, but it was the joy and pride evident in the students that spoke most clearly to the heart of the day. In celebrating one another, the children witnessed the Gospel in action, living out Christ’s call to love, welcome, and honor all.
Throughout the event, students demonstrated curiosity, respect, and a genuine desire to learn. Their thoughtful questions and enthusiastic engagement revealed how early exposure to cultural diversity fosters empathy, understanding, and a deeper appreciation of shared humanity and faith.
Above all, the day echoed a message long emphasized by Father John Fallon, founding member of the school: All are welcome. Rooted in Christ and united by Catholic faith, the school continues to stive to be a community where every family belongs, every culture is valued, and every child is encouraged to shine.
