New additions to John Carroll coaching staff

John Carroll Catholic High School (JCCHS) is proud to announce the hiring of the Cavalier cross country coaching staff for the 2022 season. Dr. Katie King (‘96), Ashton Bourque, and Savanah da Costa have been added to the already exceptional lineup of coaches and athletic administrators currently leading Cavalier student-athletes.

Coach King returns to her alma mater as head coach of the cross country program. King graduated from John Carroll in 1996 and is a former scholarship runner and record holder at Samford University. She has previous coaching experience at both the middle and high school levels.

Bourque will be teaching science at John Carroll and assisting Coach King with the day-to-day coaching and operations of the cross country program. Most recently, she has served as a leader for Focus (Fellowship of Catholic University Leaders).

Da Costa rounds out the staff with her running expertise and experience as a scholarship athlete and two-time NAIA national qualifier.

She will be heading up the John Carroll middle school program. Outside of her responsibilities with John Carroll she is pursuing a master’s degree in secondary education.

“I’m so pleased that we have found this first-class staff to lead our cross country program. I know that our student-athletes are going to enjoy and be challenged by Dr. King and her team of coaches, and I expect that the growth and success of the cross country programs will continue,” said JCCHS principal, Dr. Anthony Montalto.

The cross country program will be hosting a meeting of current and prospective student-athletes and their families on Tuesday, Aug. 9, at 6 p.m. in the JCCHS Library.
