Sydney Driggers, from Our Lady of the Valley Catholic School in Birmingham, was selected from among thousands of entries as a grand prize winner of the 2022-2023 Christmas Artwork Contest of the Missionary Childhood Association (MCA). Her artwork will be featured on the official Pontifical Mission Societies’ Christmas card.

Driggers artwork will also be displayed at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., during the 2023 Advent / Christmas Season. On Friday, Dec. 1, Mass will be celebrated for winners and their families at the Shrine.

In a letter to Driggers, Msgr. Kieran E. Harrington, national director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in the United States, wrote, “Your active participation in MCA truly makes you a missionary – right now, where you are! By your prayers and support of MCA – you are a vital part of the Church’s missionary work among your mission family half a world away!”
