Local Seminarian Ordained a Deacon

Diocesan seminarian Daniel Sessions was ordained a transitional deacon on Sept. 29 in the Basilica of St. Peter in Vatican City. Deacon Sessions entered seminary after graduating from John Carroll Catholic High School in Birmingham. After studying for two years at the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus, Ohio, he was accepted to the Basselin Scholars Program at Theological College in Washington, DC. He earned a bachelor and Licentiate (master) in Philosophy through the Catholic University of America. This spring, Deacon Sessions graduated from Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome with a bachelor’s in theology. He continues formation for priesthood at the North American College Seminary in Rome and will begin studies in Canon Law. By the grace of God, Deacon Sessions will return to the Diocese of Birmingham in June 2023 to be ordained a diocesan priest.
