To mark the 8ooth anniversary of St. Francis of Assisi’s death, or transistus, Bishop Emeritus Robert J. Baker traveled to Italy with family. During his visit, the bishop marked two anniversaries: his episcopal ordination anniversary and his installation as Bishop of Birmingham anniversary. He also celebrated Mass in the crypt church of the Basilica of St. Francis in Assisi, Italy, just steps from St. Francis’ tomb. During his time in Rome, he also was blessed to meet Pope Leo XIV.
