Knights help the Sister Servants celebrate 35th anniversary

On Sunday, July 17, members from the Knights of Columbus Council 635, based at St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic Chapel, and the Cathedral of St. Paul’s Council 9862 not only provided but also grilled hamburgers, as well as barbeque chicken, for the 35th anniversary celebration of the Sister Servants of the Eternal Word. Approximately 100 guests attended the celebration which included visits to the sister’s Bookstore, tours of the facilities/grounds, games for kids, and music with the sisters.

The Sister Servants of the Eternal Word is a public association of the faithful founded by Mother Mary Gabriel Long in 1987. The community is contemplative-active, committed to evangelization through catechesis and retreats. The Sister Servants run Casa Maria Retreat House, located in Irondale, and also participate in family catechesis, Sacramental preparation, and other catechetical missions throughout the diocese.
