John Carroll Catholic High School Encourages Students to Help Those in Need

The John Carroll service organization Carroll Students Modeling Christ (CSMC) sponsors the Queen of Hearts Charity Dance each year as a way to encourage students to participate in their school community by assisting those in need. It is the hope that students who help to raise money for charity in preparation for the dance will learn the importance of giving both time and money to others in need throughout the Greater Birmingham area, the state, and the world.

In the past, using the money raised at Queen of Hearts, CSMC has assisted charities such as JCCHS Student Financial Aid Program, JCCHS Cavs for a Cure, Catholic Relief Services, Camp Bluebird, Food for Our Journey, Catholic Centers for Concern, First Light Homeless Women and Children’s Shelter, the Lovelady Women’s Shelter, Her Choice Birmingham Women’s Center, and the National Veterans Foundation.

The members of the court who raise the most money will be crowned the king and queen (12th grade) and princes and princesses (9th, 10th, or 11th grade) at the Queen of Hearts Dance on Saturday, Feb. 12.
