John Carroll Catholic goes to indoor track state meet

John Carroll Catholic High School’s indoor track teams gave outstanding performances at the 2023 State Meet at the Crossplex in Birmingham on Feb. 4. The boys team finished 3rd overall out of 32 teams, and the girls team saw several personal records broken.

Arthur Langley placed second in the 3200-meter run, third in the 1600-meter run, and fourth in the 800-meter run. Sebastian Guerrero broke the school’s 800-meter run record, which had been held by Daniel Martin since 2000. Guerrero also placed 4th in the 400-meter run. James Edmonds placed third in the pole vault. Carson McFadden place fifth in the high jump, sixth in the long jump, and sixth in the 60-meter hurdles.

The boys 4×400 relay team (KJ Beck, Elijah McMillan, Arthur Langley, and Sebastian Guerrero) placed fourth, which was a personal best team time. The boys 4×200 relay team (Carson McFadden, Jaylin Shepherd, Braydon Lowery, and KJ Beck) placed fourth.

For the girls, Katie Marie Everett placed sixth in the pole vault. The girls 4×800 relay team (Isabella Corsini, Amelia Leath, Anna Grace Fuller, and Claire Humphrey) placed seventh, a personal best team time. The girls 4×400 relay team (Lydia Hamilton, Isabella Corsini, Lacy Jackson, and Emily Rhodes) placed eighth, another personal best team time. Lastly, the girls 4×200 relay team (Lydia Hamilton, Lacy Jackson, Kiera Lawrence, and Emily Rhodes) placed tenth.
