John Carrol senior selected as NHS Scholarship semifinalist

The National Honor Society (NHS) announced that Stanley Stoutamire, a senior at John Carroll Catholic High School and member of the NHS, has been selected as an NHS Scholarship semifinalist and will receive a $3,200 scholarship award.

Speaking on Stoutmire’s recent recognition, John Carroll Catholic’s principal, Dr. Anthony Montalto, remarked, “I speak on behalf of Stanley’s family, his grade school and middle school, Prince of Peace Catholic School in Hoover, and on behalf of the entire John Carroll community when I say how proud we are of Stanley and all that he has accomplished. He epitomizes the John Carroll experience of learning, leadership, and service.”

Since 1946, more than $21 million in scholarships have been awarded to outstanding NHS senior members to support college access and student success. The scholarship program is supported by the partner organization of the NHS, the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).

In the 100+ years since NHS was founded in 1921, members have been making a difference in their schools and communities, and the NHS Scholarship is NASSP’s way of recognizing the most exceptional of these student leaders.  Recipients are chosen based on their demonstrated work to support the four pillars of NHS; scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
