Holy Family Cristo Rey Holds Annual Gala

Holy Family Cristo Rey Catholic High School hosted its annual Rey of Hope Gala on April 21 at The Club. Corporate work study partners, funders, donors, friends, volunteers, board members, and staff gathered in-person to support the school’s mission of empowering students from economically challenged communities to graduate high school prepared to persist in college and flourish in life.

Father Joe Moons, C.P., provincial superior of the Passionist Western U.S. Province, provided the invocation, and members of the local Passionist community were in attendance, including Father Phil Paxton, C.P., pastor at Holy Family Catholic Church and board member of Holy Family Cristo Rey Catholic High School. Margaret DuBose, superintendent of schools and chair of the Catholic Schools Office and new board member, also attended. Leadership and staff from Prince of Peace Catholic Church attended the event as a table sponsor, including Father Jon Chalmers, past president of Holy Family Cristo Rey; Father Ray Dunmyer; and Father Alfredo Quezada-Avila. Many Catholics from around the diocese supported the event. A team of volunteers led by Kathryn Eckert created beautiful floral arrangements for each table. Guests participated in silent and live auctions, as well as an end-of-event paddle raise. To date, over $788,000 has been raised in critical operating funds. Missed the event this year?
