Father Charles McCabe passes away

Father Charles McCabe, a retired priest living in the Diocese of Birmingham, died Sept. 19 at the age of 74. He was ordained in 1992 at the Cathedral-Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Mobile. He served throughout the Archdiocese of Mobile, including the parishes of St. Margaret Parish in Bayou La Batre; St. Elizabeth Parish in Greenville; St. Pius X, St. Dominic, and St. Ignatius parishes in Mobile; St. John the Evangelist Parish in Ozark; and Holy Spirit Parish in Montgomery. Father McCabe also served as chaplain to the Dominican Monastery in Marbury as well as in prison ministry in the Montgomery area. Following his retirement in 2012, Father McCabe began his supportive presence in the Diocese of Birmingham in November 2018. 

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Sept. 22 at the Cathedral-Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Mobile.

Eternal rest grant upon him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen
