Faith in Action Award

On May 18, Juliana Rickman received Prince of Peace Catholic Church's 21st annual 2025 Caitlin Sweeney-McDaniel Faith in Action Award. The $1,000 award honors a graduating high school senior within the parish who exemplifies their Catholic faith in action, serves their community, and is a well-rounded student.

Rickman is a 2025 high honors graduate of John Carroll Catholic High School and a graduate of Prince of Peace Catholic School. At John Carroll Catholic, she was a member of the National Honor Society, a campus minister, a Kairos peer retreat leader, and the Metanoia underclassman retreat leader. She has been an active member of the parish, serving as a lector, altar server, Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, and Vacation Bible School teacher. During high school, she volunteered at the Lovelady Women’s Shelter and LaCasita foodbank and served as a Hoover Belle community ambassador. She is the daughter of Mike and Kerry Rickman of Hoover and will attend Auburn University in the fall to study psychology.

The two runners-up for the award were Lilli Monte and Aidan Ticola, who each received a $250 award. These two honor students from Hoover High School excelled in academics and served at the parish and within the broader community. Monte is the daughter of Sean and Heidi Monte of Hoover and will attend Auburn University. Ticola is the son of Mark and Wendy Ticola of Hoover and will attend Auburn University.
