Diocese and Cathedral Team to Offer Lecture Series

The Diocese of Birmingham is collaborating with the Cathedral of St. Paul to offer Coffee and Catechesis, a series of catechetical lectures beginning in March.

Dr. David Anders, chair of the diocesan Offices of Evangelization and Faith Formation and host of the EWTN radio program Called to Communion, will guide participants through a series of reflections on how Catholic faith provides wisdom for living.

Starting March 2 at 11 a.m., Dr. Anders will discuss "Catholic Faith as a wisdom tradition." On March 16, the topic will be "How Catholics understand the Bible,” and on March 30, the group will highlight "Steps in the Spiritual Life." April’s meetings begin on April 13 with "Getting the Most out of Mass.” On April 27, the topic will be "Dealing with Perennial Problems." The remaining two lectures include "Practices for Spiritual Growth" on May 11 and "Overcoming Ideologies" on May 25. Each gathering will last 45 minutes and will be held in the Cathedral of St. Paul’s Life Center. The Cathedral is located at 2021 3rd Ave., North in downtown Birmingham.
