Cathedral to hold Lenten Mission

On Saturday, March 15, the Cathedral of St. Paul in downtown Birmingham will welcome an international team of Dominican Friars for a Rosary Day, kicking off the parish’s special Lenten Mission which will be free and open to all. Two days later on Monday, March 17, the friars will begin three days of talks with times for confession, focusing on the theme “The Presence of God.” The mission will offer daytime and evening tracks at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. to accommodate all schedules. On the last day of the mission, Wednesday, March 19, the mission will conclude with two opportunities for a Eucharistic Healing Service, 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. The friars travelling to Birmingham are Dominican Fathers Patrick Mary Briscoe, Lawrence Lew, and Benedict McGlinchey.

The mission, which will benefit Rome’s Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas also known as the Angelicum, will also be an opportunity to obtain a Plenary Indulgence since attending a parish mission and visiting the Cathedral are both connected to the Jubilee 2025 indulgence. The Dominicans have created a mission-specific website with media materials, complete schedules, and other pertinent information at https://angelicum.it/mission_birmingham_2025/. The cathedral is located at 2120 3rd Avenue North in Birmingham. To learn more, please e-mail sophia@stpaulsbhm.org
