Bishop Raica Appoints Clergy to New Assignments

 


RETIRED PRIEST STATUS

With gratitude for his long and zealous priestly service in several parishes around the Diocese of Birmingham in Alabama, Fr. John Fallon is granted Retired Priest Status, effective July 5, 2022.


PASTORS & ADMINISTRATORS

Fr. Jon Chalmers is named Pastor of Prince of Peace Parish in Birmingham, effective July 5, 2022.

With gratitude to the bishop of the Diocese of Kumba, Cameroon, the Most Reverend Agapitus Enuyehnyoh Nfon, Fr. Frankline Fomukong is named Administrator of St. Charles Borromeo Parish in Jacksonville and St. Joachim Parish in Piedmont, with Campus Minister responsibilities at Jacksonville State University, effective July 5, 2022.

Deacon Michael Cova is named Administrator of Immaculate Conception Parish in Wedowee and Holy Family Parish in Lanett, effective July 5, 2022.


PAROCHIAL VICAR (ASSOCIATE PASTOR)

Newly-ordained Fr. Charles Deering is named Parochial Vicar of Annunciation of the Lord Parish in Decatur, effective July 5, 2022.

With gratitude to the bishop of the Diocese of Kumba, Cameroon, the Most Reverend Agapitus Enuyehnyoh Nfon, Fr. Eric Gami is named Parochial Vicar of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish in Homewood, effective July 5, 2022.


SACRAMENTAL MINISTRY

Fr. Justin Ward continues in his roles as Vicar for Sacred Liturgy and Episcopal Master of Ceremonies, while his residence is changed to Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Homewood and he is assigned to Sacramental Ministry there, effective July 5, 2022.


GRATITUDE FOR SERVICE

Fr. Athanasius Abanulo, a priest of the Diocese of Ahiara, Nigeria, is thanked for his priestly service in several diocesan assignments – most recently, as Administrator of Immaculate Conception Parish in Wedowee and Holy Family Parish in Lanett, as he departs the Diocese of Birmingham in Alabama.
