Volunteers launch Trash & Treasure buildout
With smiles and steady hands, about two dozen volunteers made a parish workday a success ahead of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Parish’s 77th Independence Day Festival. On May 16 volunteers, including John Carroll Catholic High School students, filled the school gym with shelving, preparing the space for the Trash & Treasure donations expected to arrive starting Memorial Day weekend. Donations of clean clothes, small appliances in working order, and collectibles can be left at the gym, with furniture donations accepted under the parking deck. More volunteers are needed. The first day to volunteer is June 1 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The rummage sale is just one part of the metro area’s oldest 4th of July festival. The event also includes delicious barbecue meals, fun games, and community fellowship.
