Thespians Compete in Local Competition

On Saturday, Nov. 5, 22 John Carroll Catholic High School Thespians competed in 38 individual events at the District 6 Trumbauer Theatre Competition at Thompson High School in Alabaster. Students competed with monologues, musical solos and duets, scene design, playwriting, and much more.

Twenty-nine of the 38 events received superior ranking, the highest ranking possible, and nine earned an excellent ranking, second highest.

Additionally, 15 students advanced to the state competition to be held at Troy University in December. Among them are Ameila Massa, Giorgio Simoni, Ezra Bishop, Amaya Carroll, Georgia Thornton, Maggie Von Hagel, Chireyona Jennings-Gray, Amaya Malone, Janie Spratley, Anthony Cucinotta, Kristen Cleary, Eva Watts, Lila Bakir, Larissa Garrett, and Galilea Szabo.

Finally, the honors acting and directing class performed a 30-minute play as a part of the studio competition. For their performances, Ezra Bishop and Janie Sprately were recognized as part of the All Star Cast. Sprately was also recognized at best supporting performer.
