Prince of Peace Catholic Church parishioner Elise Florez was awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Alabama State Kouncil of Auxiliary Ladies of the Knights of Columbus (ASK-AL). The scholarship is awarded annually to a Catholic woman who is a resident of Alabama and plans to continue their education at a post-secondary institution. Florez is attending Samford University School of Health Professionals, where she is a Pre-Med student majoring in sports medicine and minoring in biology and Spanish. She plans to attend medical school after graduation and become a pediatrician. Florez is a graduate of Prince of Peace Catholic School and Thompson High School. At Thompson High School, she was the 2025 valedictorian. She is the daughter of Erin and Edwin Florez of Alabaster.
