The parishioners of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and their pastor, Father Paul Asih, M.S.P., upheld a longstanding tradition on the Sunday before Mother’s Day with a May Crowning in honor of Mary, the Mother of God. Olivia Lawson, assisted by Alex Orji, placed a crown of flowers on a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the Bessemer church. May Crowning attendees were Charlie Lawson, Ugo Orji, Cole Perryman, Caliph, Cadence and Caylin Washington, Daniel Orji, and Bailey Griffin.
