St. Bernard Prep School holds contest celebrating creativity and faith
St. Bernard Preparatory School proudly hosted its second annual poster contest for the school year theme, with this year’s message coming from Psalm 27:14: “Trust the Lord! Be brave and strong and trust the Lord.” The theme emphasizes unity and spiritual growth, which are central to the mission of the school.
Father Linus Klucsarits, the school’s chaplain, solicits ideas from students and staff each year for a theme that reflects a powerful message from scripture or a saint. The chosen theme serves to inspire and unite the student body around a singular focus for the year.
Headmaster Phuong Nguyen commented, “It’s important to have a school theme because it unites students while also encouraging spiritual growth. As a Catholic school, everything we do is for the honor and glory of God.”
Amber Watts, St. Bernard Prep’s art instructor, worked closely with students from her art classes, as well as other interested participants, guiding them as they formed their own teams and developed posters inspired by this year’s theme. Entries were judged based on the quality of artwork, the clear expression of the theme, and the readability of the scripture’s message.
Two winning posters were selected—one from the middle school and one from the high school. The middle school winners were Nataly Chavez, Azylynn Florence, and Vivian Gargan. The winners for the high school contest were Olivia Keller, Sarah Locke, Maria Agnello, and Anastasia Hazard.
The works of art will be displayed in the school, serving as daily reminders of the power of faith, bravery, and trust in the Lord.
