Parishioners of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Homewood turned out on the morning of Oct. 5 with more than 30 pets to have them blessed by Father Bob Sullivan, pastor, and Parochial Vicar Father Manoj. The blessing included prayers, singing, and holy water distribution. The Blessing of the Pets is a reminder of St. Francis of Assisi and his love of God's creatures. St. Francis' feast day is Oct. 4.
