The sixth largest parish in the diocese, Annunciation of the Lord Catholic Church in Decatur, is the only Catholic church in Morgan County. Needless to say, the church is bursting at the seams and has made plans to build a new and larger church. To help raise the $8 million needed before construction can begin, the church holds Kermes festivals throughout the year.

The next Kermes will be Sunday, May 19, from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. The particular festival will feature a sweepstakes. For a $25 donation, participants can enter to win a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 truck, a whirlpool refrigerator, a Samsung washer and dryer set, a Samsung TV, or Tupperware. Soccer and basketball tournaments will also be held for adult teams. The church is located at 3910 Spring Avenue, Southwest.
