More than 150 Hispanic musicians, psalmists, and choir members from parishes across the diocese participated in the Music & Mission Workshop, sponsored by OCP Music, the Instituto Fe y Vida, and the diocesan Office of Hispanic Ministry, on June 20 at the Chapel of the Holy Cross in Albertville. Sessions included topics ranging from vocal techniques and reading music to how to lead an assembly in sung prayer. The formation initiative’s goal was to strengthen Hispanic music ministries throughout the diocese by providing ongoing formation and support. The program will continue with virtual workshops over the coming months and conclude with a final in-person gathering on Oct. 3 at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Birmingham.
