Msgr. Paul Rohling marks 50 years as a priest

Birmingham’s Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church had pews packed for the 11 a.m. Mass May 18 as Msgr. Paul Rohling, pastor emeritus, marked his 50th anniversary of ordination to the priesthood. The Mass was concelebrated by Fathers Vernon Huguley, Joe Culotta, Ray Dunmyer, Kevin Bazzel, Thomas Kelly, and Liju Parambath. Bishop Emeritus Robert Baker was "in choir," meaning he did not concelebrate the Mass but was present. At the end of the liturgy, the bishop made a few remarks congratulating Msgr. Rohling and thanking him for his years of dedicated service to the Church. Following Mass, the congregation gathered in the parish hall for a luncheon. Msgr. Rohling was ordained at the Cathedral of St. Paul on May 24, 1975, by Bishop Joseph Vath, the First Bishop of Birmingham.
