Local student receives award for high school achievement

St. John Paul II Catholic High School student AnaGrace Russell, Class of 2024, was recognized as a Congressional Youth Award Gold Medalist. Alabama Congressman Dale Strong presented the award to AnaGrace for her wonderful achievement and hard work. The award, which is the highest honor for youth the U.S. Congress bestows, focuses on a youth’s volunteerism, character development, and fitness. Recipients of the award are required to log a minimum of 400 hours of community service, 200 hours of personal development, 200 hours of physical fitness, and a five-day expedition.
