St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Montevallo welcomed new parish staff member Sister Amanda Magdalena with a reception on Oct. 29. She is one of three sisters from the Servants of the Pierced Hearts of Jesus and Mary based in Miami, Florida who arrived to serve the Diocese of Birmingham at St. Thomas, St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Hoover, and St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Birmingham. Sister will assist St. Thomas with various ministries and will work with the parish’s growing Hispanic community.
