Local parish hosts event for seniors

On Oct. 8, Holy Family Catholic Church in Ensley proudly hosted a specialized seminar focused on the critical issue of elder fraud. Sponsored by the FBI Citizens Academy Alumni Association of Central and Northern Alabama and AARP of Alabama, the event aimed to empower seniors with the knowledge to recognize and report fraudulent scams.

The seminar drew an impressive turnout, with over 100 participants in attendance. Attendees engaged in informative discussions and learned about various types of scams that target older adults, including phone fraud, phishing schemes, and financial exploitation. Experts shared valuable insights on preventive measures and how to report suspicious activities to authorities.

The collaborative effort highlights the ongoing commitment to safeguarding the well-being of seniors in the community. By fostering awareness and education, the seminar equipped participants with the tools needed to protect themselves and their loved ones from potential fraud.
